Thanksgiving 2010

Last week was my first Thanksgiving! It was a great day. Daddy stayed home from work and Uncle Dylan and Aunt Lindsay came over and we cooked up a storm!! I helped by getting all the bowls out for cooking. I ate turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce (although I am not sure I like that) and I have been eating leftovers everyday since. It was very yummy!! The day after Thanksgiving Mommy & Daddy had to work and so I spent the day with Uncle Dylan and Aunt Lindsay. We swang on the swings, we went to the Butterfly Pavilion and there was much to see there. Butterflies, Bees, Fish and much more. It was a great time.

Busy Bee

My goodness I have been busy. Mommy has been packing and now there are so many new places for me to explore!! I have been crawling into cabinets, sledding on cookie sheets, baking banana bread and swinging at the park. As far as what's new - my top two teeth are coming in now and I am standing by myself for longer and longer periods of time! I am really growing up.  

Play Time!!

This morning we met Aunt Lindsay and Allie and Charlie and Bailey at the children's gym. I had never been before, but I think I will go back there every day if I can. I had so much fun - there was so much to climb on and lots of other kiddos running around. It was pretty close to my new house so that will be perfect! 

Today we went over to the new house and met our future neighbors. My neighbors are two twin 13 year old girls. They have an in ground pool and said I can come swimming any day! They also look like they will be great baby sitters. They said that in the other house next door there is a woman that is 4 months pregnant with her first baby, so maybe that baby will play with me next year. I definately think that my new neighbors will be much more fun than the neighbors I have now.

In other news, I recently had my 9 month check up. I am 9 and a half months now, so we were a little late. I am 28" tall, I weigh 20lbs, and my head is 17.25". I am on the 90th% for weight, 50th% for head, and 60th% for height. I used to be in the 90th% for height, but I guess I have stopped growing up and am focusing more on growing out. My top two teeth are going to come in soon. You can see that my gums are swollen - maybe by Christmas. I hold onto things so I can stand, sometimes I let go and stand with no hands for a few seconds to show off. I can walk if I can push things I am holding onto - like a walker....but mostly I just stand or crawl or dance. I can eat any food now - berries, peanut butter, meats...everything except for milk. So I have been trying lots of new things and feeding myself with my fingers. I miss my mouth a lot and make a big mess but Lucy sits under me and cleans up what I drop. I am also sleeping through the night now. Mommy and Daddy figured out that if they would just leave me alone and stop coming in my room that I would sleep through. I tried to tell them, but they decided to try months of no sleep first. They are happy they finally figured that out.

Happy Halloween!

For Halloween I dressed up as a cute baby cow. We were supposed to go to a party with other families but I found out that I have 2 ear infections and wasn't feeling up to it so I helped hand out candy instead. We had lots of visitors! I hope next year I feel better so I can go to the dress up Halloween party and that I am big enough to go trick or treating.  

Squeaky Clean

I figured that after I showed you the banana pancakes mixed with snot all over my face that I should show you that sometimes I am also clean. I LOVE taking baths. Can't you tell?

Banana Pancakes

Mommy made me some Banana Pancakes on Sunday! I liked them so much I had them for breakfast AND dinner.

Pumpkin Patch

WOW!!! Today Aunt Lindsay and Mommy took me to a great place. There were pumpkins and horses and baby goats and ducks and bunnies. There was even a baby cow - I was excited about him because I am also going to be a baby cow for Halloween. We had such a nice day. As usual Mommy had a very difficult time editing out photos so there are like 50 for each moment. She is so embarrassing!

Mommy & Daddy's Weekend Away

Last weekend Mommy and Daddy took Lucy to Vail and I spent the whole weekend with Aunt Lindsay!!! I had such a blast with Aunt Lindsay. She took me to the zoo and I talked to all the animals. I even saw two monkeys doing it!! But I don't really know what that means. Aunt Lindsay bought me a electric toothbrush with Tigger on it. I like the way it feels on my tongue. Oh and here are a few pictures from Mommy & Daddy's trip to Vail. Although I don't think you will find them interesting because I am not in any of them.

Nana's Visit

As always I had a wonderful time with Nana during her visit. I took off a whole week from daycare so that I could play with her while Mommy was working. I already miss her now that she is gone, but I am sure she will be back again soon. Hopefully I didn't tire her out too much!

New Friends

I am super busy these days. I am crawling on hands and knees now, no more scooching! Scooching is for babies. I am standing most of the time now, my balance is getting really great. Sometimes I can almost stand with no hands!! I like to show off. I am making lots of friends at daycare. When I arrive in the morning the toddlers are in the same room as me waiting for their teacher. They get excited to see me because I am usually the first baby to join them. I am always a little sad when Becky takes me in the morning from Mommy - she smokes and smells bad and I am not crazy about her. But luckily for me she leaves at 7 so I only have to deal with her for a few minutes. I squirm and cry when she carries me away from Mommy and the toddlers try to make me feel better by bringing me gifts. Today one boy brought me a book to chew on and another girl brought me a baby doll to squeeze. I felt better right away. I quickly forgot about Mommy and was just happy to play. In the last month I have started to be more shy around certain people. Sometimes it makes sense because they are strangers who want to hold me and I want none of that! But other times I am weary of people who love me like Uncle Dylan. I like to stare at him from a distance because I am very curious about him. He is very sweet and doesn't push his luck with me. I am sure I will get over myself soon.

I missed everything!

Mom, Aunt Barby, Nana & Lucy took me for a walk through the open space - it was an amazing day - at least that's what they told me. I slept through the entire walk and didn't wake up until I was being put back in the car! It was very rude of them to let me sleep because I didn't get to enjoy the beautiful views.

Halloween Preview

Today Mommy helped me try on my cow hat that I am going to wear for Halloween. I was grumpy and I didn't want it on my head. We'll see if I am going to dress up for Halloween. I think I just want to be myself.

My First Ranch

Today was Nana's first full day with me and boy did we have a fun morning. We went up to a ranch where my buddy Amy volunteers. They do theraputic riding there. We fed the horseys carrots and I pulled on their nostrels - they were very tolerant. So far each animal I pull and pry is very sweet, one day I think another critter may surpise me. Anyway, I am happy that we went and maybe someday I can actually ride one! But until then I am happy that Amy works there because she says I can visit anytime. She is the best.

becoming a monkey....

You will not believe all that I have accomplished in the past few days. I have become a fearless explorer. I pull myself up on everything, the ottoman, the shelves, the chairs, the oven, the doors, if there is a something to grab onto, I will pull myself up. Mommy has had to move lots of shiny expensive things out of my reach. Also when Mommy is cooking in the kitchen I help her with my baking utensils. I really like being helpful. My Nana comes in THREE days and I can't wait to show her all my new skills. I hope she is quick on her feet!

What's New???

So what's new? Basically I am standing as much as I can now. I stand in my crib all the time and it is very hard to put me down because now I can sit and stand and play in my crib instead of sleep. I usually play and talk for a while, then I get sad I am alone and I cry, and then I realize how tired I am and I pass out face down or slumped over in the sitting position. When I crawl I get up on my hands and feet and my butt is up in the air - you might think I am trying to get better at crawling, but actually I am trying to stand. I think I will walk by Thanksgiving. Also I had my first grown up food this week. I had macaronis with butter two nights in a row! I really like it. Less than a week until Nana comes!!

Look at Me!!!

I wonder if I will be one of those babies that walks before she ever really learns to crawl. I hope not. I hope I give Mommy and Daddy a chance to get used to my crawling before I am running all around on two feet. In the mean time I enjoy pulling myself up, standing and sticking out my tongue.

Splish Splash

Almost 8 months

You have probably been wondering what I have been up to. Mostly just crawling around and chewing on things that I shouldn't chew on. My 2 bottom teeth are coming in so I have been a little more crabby then normal. I have also been trying new foods, fresh raspberries, graham crackers and fresh peaches to name a few. Last weekend Mommy was away but Daddy and I had a great time. We went to the Aquarium and we saw lots of fish and even a tiger. I wonder if the tiger is confused about why he is at the Aquarium instead of the Zoo. I think Daddy liked the Aquarium even more than I did. I also like to steal Lucy's toys whenever I get the chance. She steals mine so we are even. I like to talk all the time. I say Da Da, Ba Ba, Ma Ma, and I am bringing back the teradactle sounds. My Aunty Caitlin and I like to screech at each other but Mommy doesn't like how Aunty Caitlin encourages me. Lately I also like to practice standing. It makes me happy to feel like a big girl. Even though I am almost 8 months now I fit into 12 months clothes and even some 18 month clothes. I enjoy listening to music and I bop my head and dance a little when I hear songs I like. My goals are to start drinking from a cup soon and also phase out my bedtime bottle because I eat such a large dinner I really do not need a bottle before bed. Daddy reads me a story for bed each night. My favorite one is That's Not My Monster. There are lots of different textures in that story and I enjoy testing them all out. The monster on the last page has big fluffy ears like Lucy and that is my monster. I have lots of exciting things coming up, Nana is coming to visit again for almost two weeks, and Aunt Barby is also coming for 5 nights. I have not met her yet, but I know I will love her. Then Mommy and Daddy are going away to Vail and they are leaving me behind. Which is crazy considering how cool I am. But Aunt Lindsay is going to play with me the whole weekend so I don't need Vail. I am also already writing my list to Santa for my first Christmas. I have been very good this year so I am expecting a big turn out. Well I am very busy and important and Mommy needs my help with something again so I gotta go....

Daddy & Me

You can tell by the expression on Daddy's face that he loves me sooo much! I am super excited to spend the whole weekend with him because Mommy is going away with Aunt Lindsay to the beach. They will be sad that they left after I tell them how much fun I had with Daddy.

1st tooth

Mom only tortured me a little bit to get this blurry photo of my first tooth. That is all you are going to get because I am cranky!

Baby Teeth

Last Saturday my first tooth came in, my bottom left tooth. And this morning Mommy noticed my second tooth is coming in. I am very happy the second one is coming in because I would have looked like a jack-o'-lantern if I had only one on the bottom. So far I am not very affected by the teeth breaking through, but I am more needy lately and I have been waking up around 5am and Mommy & Daddy do not like that at all. As soon as my teeth come in I promise to start sleeping later.

Mommy hasn't been able to capture a photo of my teeth yet, but she tries every day. Sooner or later she is going to be able to show you what my teeth look like. Right now they are just barely poking through my gums. I am very excited about all the new foods I will be able to eat once I have teeth.

It is hard to imagine a world without Claire, or that Mommy & Daddy were happy at all before I came along. They are very in love and I like looking at all they fun they have together.

Now that I am learning to crawl I can explore lots of new areas of my house. Today I went under the bed. There was lots of Lucy hair under there but that is fine with me. I am just happy to be able to go where I want to.

Play Date with baby Finn Walden

Last weekend I had my first play date with Finn! His mommy went to High School with my mommy and he is just 11 weeks old. I wanted to pat his face but I don’t know my own strength...and then I tried to pull his ears but he didn't like that either. He is very small and cute.

Keeping Cool in my Baby Pool

It has been so hot here that you have to sit in the water to stay cool - although Lucy gets confused and thinks my pool is her water bowl. I grabbed her face to try to show her who was boss but then I remembered how much I loved her so I just let her drink as much as she wanted.

Uncle John's July Visit

I am Uncle John's first grand baby because mommy is his pretend 3rd daughter so he loves me so much already. We had a really nice time together and I liked him right away because he has glasses and a mustache to pull on.

Vermont 2010 - Part I

I went to mommy & daddy's hometown in Vermont for Aunt Mollie's wedding. Westminster West is very fun. I got to play on the farm and spend lots of time with Nana & Poppy & Yaya & Beeba & Aunt Mollie & Aunt Bonnie & Aunt Lindsay & Uncle Dylan....I wore a special dress to Aunt Mollie's wedding - she was the prettiest bride I have ever seen! I now have 2 weddings under my belt.

My 6 Month Birthday

Today is my half birthday! I weigh 18lbs now and am starting to eat food every day. Mommy and daddy took me to the Boulder farmer's market - I got lots of compliments on my pig tails and I showed daddy the best way to drink from a water bottle.

Daddy's Birthday!

Today was Daddy's Birthday - I slept for most of the party, but then I woke up and everybody was very excited to see me and I basically stole daddy's thunder. I met lots of daddy's friends and stayed up way past my bedtime.

Nana's Visit

Nana came to visit me for the first time since I was an infant. I am much more fun now - I showed her how I play all day and she took care of me thw whole time she was here. I love her.

Today I met Sally - she is mommy's friend Ashlee's dog. She didnt care that I was crawling on her and tugging her ears and eating her ears. I liked Sally very much. Lucy never lays still long enough for me to eat her ears.

Mommy took me on a walk with Lucy & Amy & Weston & Ada - I love watching the dogs run - but then I got very  hot and tired and mom forgot my pacifier. I became very upset and cried the whole way back to the car. I am a little embarrassed about my behavior.

Now that I am almost 5 months old I get to try real foods! I hope mommy knows what she is doing because this tastes funny.

3 Months Old - 1st Airplane Ride and 1st wedding!

I am 3 months old now and I am becoming a big girl! I went to CT for Daddy's cousin Becca's wedding and we visited Mommy's best friend Liv and my future bestie Emmy.

My First Swim!

This was my first time in a a swim suit and I LOVED it!! I went in the warm pool and the cool pool and it was so humid in there that my  hair became curly.

My Birthday!

I was born on January 14, 2010, the same day as mommy's grandfather. I weighed 7lbs, 10oz and everybody was surprised by how much hair I had. I loved mommy & daddy right away.
